Blog 2: Religion & Philosophy

Religion & Philosophy

Our class has found out about Christianity (religion) and Plato (philosopher) regarding the beliefs of good and evil.
Christianity believes that good is where everyone has the ability to make their own decisions and choices. Their answers to the decisions they make are the rights of what they want to do.
Christianity believes that evil is to be disconnected to god through to failure to love.  It also means not to care about anyone but themselves. God created everything in the world, and called it good. God created angels and men with free will so that they can choose to be good or evil. When they choose something other than God, they are committing sin and evil enters in.
This is different to what Plato believed.
Plato believed good and evil were in comparison to nature (good) and dark shadows (evil). Plato supposed that the senses do not give us a true representation of reality and he thought that humans are made up of matter and the soul is not. Plato believed good and evil were that we could make our own decisions and choices, whether or not we will choose the good or bad options of the decisions we will make.
When I look at these different ideas, the one that makes the most sense to me is the Christianity beliefs. This is because I understand that people have the rights to do what they believe is the right decision to make.
After studying these new ideas, I understand that good and evil could be thought as the action and choices we make as an individual. There is always a good or evil outcome to the everyday choices we make.

Blog 1: Is Someone Good or Evil?

I think you can tell if someone is good by the way they smile and talk, their personality and their choice of lifestyle. Usually, an evil person doesn’t talk as calmly and polite and don’t often smile. Some people may also tell that someone is bad by getting a bad feeling in their gut saying, 'don’t talk to him' or 'walk away as fast as you can'. An evil person usually presents themselves in a strange, fake, or angry way.
People choose the evil side of their personality over the good side to get revenge on another person, to make them feel better about themselves, to create attention, or simply because they think it is 'right', or has been persuaded by another.
